Festival Tumbe

Festival Tumbe 2025 is a revered tradition of the Banggai community, held annually on December 4. This event involves three regencies in Central Sulawesi Province: Banggai Regency, Banggai Laut Regency, and Banggai Kepulauan Regency. The festival symbolizes the ceremonial journey of delivering Maleo bird eggs from the Batui Indigenous Community in Banggai Regency to the Banggai Kingdom.

The journey begins with the group stopping at Pinalong Village (Banggai Kepulauan Regency) to perform a symbolic ritual of throwing a piece of wood. They then proceed to Tanjung Merah on Labobo Island to replace the egg wrapping with fresh "Kambuno" leaves, while the old leaves are released into the sea. These drifting leaves serve as a signal to the Banggai Kingdom that the group has reached Tanjung Merah.

The highlight of the event is the ritual of Malabot, where the eggs are ceremonially received at the Batumundoan Palace in Banggai, showcasing deep respect for tradition and cultural heritage.
